LOVELIST: March Edition...

You've got mail!  Well, other than the junk variety and the occasional magazine, that is.  I actually joined Postcrossing a couple months ago, but it took some time to get going.  You send postcards to randomly selected people from all over the world, and in return you get greetings to your mailbox from one of it's nearly 400,000 members.  I've received postcards from such far off places as Germany, Thailand, Russia, South Korea, Poland and Italy.  It's a small world after all!

My best friend recently accepted a new job opportunity on the other side of the country.   So from creating a special tribute book, to throwing a top secret Goodbye party at the Porcupine Grill, then packing up Cafe Ramona and then ending with the inevitable tearful goodbyes during a random morning snowstorm... it was a difficult way to wrap up March for everyone.  As hard as it is to say farewell, if you ask me deep down I'm more excited to see my buddy go on and really live his life.  It's inspiring (even if it does bring up my abandonment issues), I'm really happy for him.

This month I finally got around to seeing this year's Best Picture winner. Argo is a dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran.  I was on the edge of my seat with this thriller and I'm happy that it took home the Oscar.  Ben did good!

Even though their latest album Mosquito doesn't drop until mid-April, it's first single wet my appetite  for the great new indie-rock tunage to come.  I love this song!  So don't be too surprised when you see the rest of the album on next month's Love List either.  (I'm also gagging on the semi-NSFW, hot just released music video!)

 Bestest Sexiest Bond Ever.
Period.

"If you've ever wondered why, Disney tales all end in lies.
Here's what happened after all their dreams came true."

Adorable and über-talented Jon Cozart (aka "Paint") fills you in on the tragic endings to some of your beloved Disney princesses.  Poor Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Pocahontas is all I have to say.  This is one of the most creative well done videos to go viral in a long time.  If you haven't seen it, Enjoy!

Since TVLand is one of the few channels I actually have in my basic-basic-basic package, I was more than thrilled that Sophia, Rose, Blanche, and Dorothy finally arrived on their nightly line-up.   The show still holds up and is hilariously relevant after all these years.  Pass the cheesecake!

"My name's Ralph, and I'm a bad guy. Uh, let's see... I'm nine feet tall, I weigh six hundred and forty three pounds, got a bit of a temper on me. My passion level's very near the surface, I guess, not gonna lie. Anyhoo, what else, uh... I'm a wrecker. I wreck things, professionally. I mean, I'm very good at what I do. Probably the best I know. Thing is, fixing's the name of the game. Literally. Fix-It Felix Jr. So yeah, naturally, the guy with the name Fix-It Felix is the good guy. He's nice enough as good guys go. Definitely fixes stuff really well. But, uh, if you got a magic hammer from your father, how hard can it be? If he was a regular contractor, carpenter guy, I guarantee you, you will not be able to fix the damage that I do as quickly. When Felix does a good job, he gets a medal. But, are there medals for wrecking stuff really well? To that, I say, ha! And no, there aren't. For thirty years I have been doing this, and I have seen a lot of other games come and go, how sad. Think about those guys at Asteroids? Boom, gone. Centipede? Who knows where that guy is, you know? Look, a steady arcade gig is nothing to sneeze at, I'm very lucky. It's just, I gotta say, it becomes kinda hard to love your job... when no one else seems to like you for doing it."

Much like the Yeah Yeah Yeah's (See #4) I have to wait until late Spring for Nocturnes, the  new album from my beloved Little Boots, but the awesome first single Motorway arrived early to hold me over until May.

I basically stumbled upon Emeli Sandé from all places a Spotify commercial.  (Hey advertisements can work!)  I was immediately hooked with this up-and-coming pop artist  from across the pond.   Recently she won both Best British Female and Best British Album of the Year at the 2013 at the Brit Awards). I'm pretty sure she has a great future ahead of her.  Her entire album was on a constant loop for most of March.  My favorite single has to be Next to Me.

Can we talk? As if I couldn't get enough of my Joan fix with Fashion Police and Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best, comes her new Internet web series In Bed With Joan.  Celebrities climb into her bed for an intimate and usually hilarious chat.  My favorites so far include Adam Pally, Sarah Silverman, Kelly Osbourne and Nick Kroll.

The gang from ISIS finally arrived on Netflix: Instant Watch.
Yuuuuup!

This is the true story... You know I used to be a huge The Real World junkie, so when MTV announced they were having a Retro Real World Weekend marathon featuring (New York '92, San Francisco '94 and Las Vegas '02) you know I had to tune in and feel all nostalgic.  Then I found second favorite season, Boston ('97) online.  Bonus points if you can tell me me all time favorite season.  (Great, now I might have to search that out online too!)

Thank you.
Thank You.
Thank You.

If you don't know who Edie Windsor is, you should!  A Very Long Engagement is a great place to start.  Future generations can thank this trailblazing shero who fought for equality and changed hearts at the same time.
