Kentuckah...

Since I was in the neighborhood for my Annual Chicago getaway, I decided to pop on over for a few days to check out Jeff's new home.  It was great to see my buddy once again!   I got to his new pad, that he just moved in to two weeks prior.  I got to visit downtown along the river front. And I got to meet Eduardo and his adorable pups Rudy and Toby.  (They loved me!)  It was a short and sweet trip, I'll have to stay longer when I visit again.  My skin loved the moisture, oh and it was very pretty, green and lush there.  Oh and  I'm still daydreaming about Ed's jacuzzi.  Until next time.

(Mit and Mo were more than excited to have me home after a week away!)

LOVELIST: May Edition...

It's Memorial Day weekend, which means (if I'm lucky) I'm taking another homo-holiday to the wonderful Windy City. This was my third visit there to kick off Summer (even if Mother Nature didn't get the memo.  Damn, it was chilly this year!)  Still, it was yet another fantastic getaway. I was so happy to see many old squirrel-friends and make some new ones along the way.  Same time, same place.  See ya next year Chi-Town!

Since I was in the neck of woods, I decided to hop on over to Kentuckah for a couple days to check out Jeff's home.  I found Louisville to be beautiful, lush and really green-- and my skin really enjoyed the humidity in the air.  Plus, after the chilly week in Chicago, the more Summer-like temperatures were actually a treat.  It was terrific to see my buddy again and check out Emerson Estates (aka Lil' Cafe Ramona.)  He really is settling in quite nicely and comfortably into his new life back East.  I can't wait to go back and visit again.  What else did I love about Louisville, you ask?  Scroll down to #12 and see for yourself...

I've been waiting forever to see my favorite Primadona Marina live in concert... and this month I finally got to cross that off my bucket list when the Electra Heart tour pulled into town.  The venue was ridiculously hot  with all that underage body heat on a 91°F day.  However, my friend Jake and I watched the show perched above the stage from above, at the open-air bar balcony.  Obviously she put on a great show; it was amazing!  As if that wasn't enough, my evening was made even more epic when Marina officially liked my photo (of my handmade M&TD tank top) on Instagram later that night!  Feeling super... super... super!

I've been obsessed with this compilation all month long, it's been played on a loop since it was released.  With the a diverse megastar line up including Lana Del Rey, Florence Welch, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Gotye, Sia, Kanye West, Jack White, and the xx to name a few... you can easily see why:   Soundtrack of the Year... Write it!

I've had my iPhone for two-and-a-half years but the home button has been going out and was testing my patience daily to the point I said F#%$ it! and finally just ordered a new one.  (I'm still protesting the iPhone 5's with it's new charger plug redesign) so I'm very happy with my new white 4S iPhone with it's Siri, voice text, panoramic camera and a home button that actually works.

From coast to coast, and sea to shining sea, this Discovery Channel special is easily a Love List Must See. From the makers of Planet Earth, (So you know it's stunning!) this epic seven-part series shows the beauty and life that surrounds me here in North America.  What a lovely and diverse continent to call home.  Again, I'm reminded that this planet really is truly spectacular.  We really need to start appreciating her before it's too late.

I curse Shila's name for introducing me to TCBY a few weeks ago.  No, prior to this month I'd never been... and it's taking everything in my power to not get in my car right now and head over to Sugarhouse to pick up a tasty FroYo treat.

New artist discovery of the month.
And I'm o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d with the song Royals.

Did you hear the one about a cat in a shark costume who rode on a Roomba chasing a duckling while a dog (also in a dressed as a shark) watched on?  I can't explain why, but this bizarre viral video brought me so much joy this month. I couldn't stop laughing, and it still makes me giggle thinking about it now.  Just watch it for yourself HERE.

I visited one of my favorite local restaurants, The Dodo a couple times this month.  If you're ever in the Sugarhood, be sure to check it out.  And as a bonus, besides delicious entrees (and allegedly decadent desserts, of which I've never had room for anyway) they don't offer fries as a side-dish option, which just makes my life easier!  All this food talk is making my stomach growl.

One of the things you probably know about me by now is that I am a bona fide Arrested Development fanatic.  [Banner Love AD!]  It was exciting seeing the month-long (brilliant) marketing  final countdown for the May 26th return of the Bluth family.  From Banana stands popping up in some famous  world locations, to Tobias Fünke’s hilarious interactive website InsertMeAnywhere.biz-- I am more than ready to say Annyong to George, Lucille, Michael, Buster, George Michael, GOB, Lindsay, Tobias and Maebe once again!  Editor's Note: Due to travel I've only been able to watch the first episode by month's end.   (I know I know, Bad Super Fan!) but I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll be season 4 on next month's List.  Just a hunch.

While I was in Kentucky I made two new  BFF's (best furry friends.)  Rudy and Toby; Eduardo's super sweet little pooches.  (Rudy especially was in heaven on my lap.  I guess I am a really good petter.)  The new deck that Jeff recently built was also a great place to relax on a Summer Louisville afternoon... and then there was the hot tub.  Ahhhh soooo nice.  It's been far to long since I've been in one--  I need to make it more of a habit.  And then there was the music that Eduardo turned me on to.  (He has an awesome home sound system!)  Some of my favorite discoveries included Wankelmut, Jutty Ranx, Alison Moyet, Tom Odell, Caro Emerald.. and more Caro Emerald.  Great new additions for my playlist ride home.  If only there was room in my carry on for his pooches as well... and his hot tub too!

Before Elvis, before Elton John, Madonna and Lady Gaga... there was Liberace.  Admittedly I didn't know that much about Liberace, but with this dazzling and outrageous HBO movie Behind the Candelabra I got a glimpse into his  flamboyant, fascinating and fabulous life.  The performances by Rob Lowe, Michael Douglas and Matt Damon are mesmerizing.  As Liberace said himself, "Too much of a good thing... is Wonderful!"

I would have never ever even tried these in a previous life.  (Boy, my palate for spicy foods really has evolved over the years!)  But after tasting them while visiting Jeff in Kentucky I was instantly hooked on their messy orangey goodness.  Great, one more junk food I have to now avoid...  But damn they really are tasty!

Happy Mother's Day...

Today I honor my Mother for all that she has done and all that she has selflessly sacrificed for the betterment of her children. I love you Mom.
