♥LIST: October Edition...

Admit it, it's a day that you honestly never thought you'd see.
Me either.

Scroll down full recap posts below.

You loved her in Seinfeld.  You loved her in The New Adventures of Old Christine.  And now Julia Louis-Dreyfus is back in this hilarious HBO comedy Veep, which follows the fictitious (duh!) United States Vice President Selina Meyer and her staff as they try to leave a lasting legacy.  And yes, I still Love her!  (What Seinfeld curse?)  One of the funniest comedians of our time!  She gets my vote!

The long wait is over. We've moved out of The Murder House of Season 1, and checked in to Briarcliff; an Asylum for the criminally insane.  There are many familiar faces, but in totally new roles.  Jessica Lange is pure perfection as the scary head nun, Sister Jude, who rules with an iron fist.  It took a couple episodes for me to get fully committed.  Not that it was bad or anything... there's just several very different story lines going on, and it felt a bit chaotic.  That being said, I'm happy to report, three episodes in, I'm totally hooked.  And if you needed any more convincing, in addition to Zachary Quinto, it's also got Adam Levine.  Being scared never felt so good!

Even though I only learned of Mika's new album The Origin of Love as the month was coming to a close, it's been on a constant loop ever since.  Instant obsession!

I'm hopeful that the best reality competition today of all-time can beat the "All-Star Curse." Cummon, you have to admit that the Top Model and Project Runway All-Star Seasons, were disappointing... okay they sucked.  (I have faith in Ru!)  I love reuniting with some of my favorite former  Racers. (Great job casting Ru!) That being said, No T, No shade, the 'pairs' twist, is just stupid. (Boo Ru!)  With lots of beloved queens, it sucks having to say Sashay Away to not one, but two every week. Plus that only means the season flies by even faster.  Thank goddess Season Five stomps back in January.  Can I get an Amen?!

When Jesse moved to open up an Iris in Denver, I lost my piercer.
And now I have a new guy!  And Jaymes is awesome!

Sure, last month I got to reunite with Modern Family, Parks and Recreation and Up All Night... but I had to wait until October for the rest of my favorite sitcoms to return to primetime. Thank goodness 30 Rock, Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B**** in Apt 23 are back B****es.  If you're not watching these ah-mahzing comedies what the hell is wrong with you.  Get Tivo'ing!

Band Discovery of the Month.

I completely stumbled on this dynamic electro-pop duo with a simple Spotify band suggestion.  Sneaky Sound System was enjoyed to the max on heavy rotation all-month-long. I love finding new amazing music.  Wonder what I'll find next month!  Stay tuned!

While I was house/dog sitting for my parents for an entire week,  I was pretty much glued to HGTV.  (In typical fashion.)  Sure, House Hunters is a great staple, but in heavy rotation was Property Brothers and Love It or List It. I'm an HGTV-Geek, this much is true.  These home improvement marathons got me hooked.

As you know, I've been living through a kitchen remodel since early September.  [Photos to come. Promise!]  I can now officially say there are few things as joyful as the day you get your kitchen sink after five weeks without one.  Got any more dishes I can wash?  Scrub-a-dub-dub!

Yo Mirror, Mirror... It's downright laughable that  Charlize Theron would ever lust over the beauty of Kristen Stewart.  My girlfriend is the fairest of all the land. Period!  She MADE Snow White and the Huntsman.  (Although to be fair, Chris Hemsworth didn't hurt either.)  I was rooting for the Queen Ravenna the entire flick.  Evil never looked so good!

I'm not a fan of haunted houses.  No thank you!  I haven't been to one in over a decade.  But that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy the total hilarious terror of others suffering through them.  (From the comfort of my own computer no less!)  Nightmares Fear Factory in Niagara Falls claims to be scariest on the planet.  Judging by all the  photos of terrified guests, they may just be right. This website provided countless LOLs this October.  They scream. I laugh!

After their performances on Saturday Night Live mid-month, I decided to check out some of Passion Pit's other offerings.  I loved what I heard.  Their latest album Gossamer was killer and I'm happy to add yet another fantastic band to my ever-growing Spotify go-to playlist.  Man, I have great taste!

My official team won the whole shebang!
(In a blow-out no less!)
Congrats San Fran!  Let's do it again next year.
(Sorry Nicole, your birdies are going down.  Again.)

Punkin Watch 2012...

One of the best things about October is our annual tradition of carving jack-o-lanterns and making Halloween crafts.   It's become wildly popular with the girls.  But I think I might enjoy it just as much, if not more.  (Just don't tell them!)  Halloween and my nieces-- two of my favorite things.  What's not to love?

Uncle Casey Watch: 10/12...

Check out some shots of my little monkeys hanging out in the motorhome, and at the fancy  Little America hotel.  Man those couldn't be further opposites, now that I type them out!  They are officially growing up too quick!

Ruff Stuff...

Every year my family goes to the big regional Drag Race competition in Boise, Idaho.  Which means I have a week dog sitting Sassy and Cooper.  There are no accidents that I planned my retirement prior to this, so that I wouldn't have to commute to Salt Lake daily.  (That being said, I did make quite a few trips.  A kitchen remodel and my own four legged fur-balls need my attention too!

5,282 Days Later...

I started working the Front Desk of the Best Western Salt Lake Plaza Hotel a few months after I first moved to Salt Lake City.   I worked my way up to Reservations Assistant, to Reservations Manager over the years, and finally to Shila's right hand man (unofficially the  Front Desk Assistant Manager.) Time flew by, countless co-workers have came and gone (and several came back again!) Made many friends. I went to school, got an Associates Degree.  A recession hit.  I stayed. Time ticked on. I got burned out. And so I finally grew a pair, and decided this Summer that this was the year that I FINALLY took the leap and venture on to something new.  (I'm not getting any younger after all!)  So I'm trusting that my natural talents will serve me well, and the universe will be kind providing a refreshing and exciting new chapter. (The last one was a novel in and of itself.)  I'm leaping.  Can't wait to see the net that appears.

I always have to leave my mark.
I've looked at this magnet on my fridge for over 10 years.
I'm glad I finally took it's advice!

Checking Out...

The Hotel Staff threw me a going-away 'retirement' luncheon (I ate enough J.Wongs to literally burst!)  I did really good keeping my emotions together. It had been such a long time since all of the managers have actually gotten together, so that was a nice lasting memory.  I will remember these people for the rest of my life.  I didn't get a photo with everyone, but here's a few snapshots of my last hours at the Plaza.  Still working hard not to tear up.  It doesn't seem real.

And then Shila and I followed up with post-work celebratory cocktails at Lucky 13!
