This was just the trip that I was so desperately in need of. I got to spend several days visiting friends in Sacramento before we, I drove down to San Francisco for a weekend full of friends and fun. I'm pretty sure I can speak for everyone, when I said a great time was had by all! (And there's even more pictures floating around to prove it. But I'm gonna make you work to see those.) I can't wait to go back again real soon!
Imagine some of the funniest comics today gathering on the same stage. And that stage was out in the Salt Lake City suburbs, of all places. That's just what happened when the Funny or Die Presents: The Oddball Comedy Tour came to town. With an all-star line up including: Sarah Silverman, Louis CK, Aziz Ansari, Whitney Cummings, Chris Hardwick, Demetri Martin, Jeff Ross and Hannibal Burress (Broad City!) we were all left laughing until we were wet. Hey, it was from the rain. Mostly.
When Joel and Molly meet in They Came Together, it's hate at first sight: his big Corporate Candy Company threatens to shut down her quirky indie candy shop. Plus, Joel is hung up on his sexy ex. But amazingly, they fall in love, until they break up about two thirds of the way through, and Molly starts dating her accountant. But then right at the end...well you'll just have to see. It's about time lovey-dovey-romantic-chick-flicks get the royal spoof treatment, and with these two adorable, charming hilarious leads-- what's not to love?!
When 2% of the world's population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to come to terms with what happened. Three years later, The Leftovers is the story of the people that didn't make the cut. (HBO) Also, Justin Theroux in sweatpants. You're welcome.
Lovely ladies Zola Jesus, Yelle and Lykke Li provided my official soundtrack of the month. And now they can for you as well! Just download Dangerous Days, Complètement Fou and No Rest For The Wicked right now! Great! Now throw them on a Playlist and then put it on repeat. Enjoy! We're now twinners!

When the news came out about Joan Rivers' passing, it hit me really hard. She was a constant presence in my home and was always bringing me joy and making me laugh. And when I say, constant, I mean Constant! Every week dishing on famous frocks on Fashion Police... and her reality show Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?... and her many books,... and her brilliant documentary A Piece Of Work... and weekly web chat series In Bed With Joan. The woman never seemed to stop and we all thought she'd go on forever. Sadly, as with life, all good things must come to an end. Rest in Peace funny lady. You left an amazing ground-breaking legacy. Joan Ranger for life.
I checked out plenty of tasty offerings during my time in Sactown. Jacks Urban Eats, BJ's Brewhouse, Black Bear Diner and On The Border provided some mighty delicious meals. While Peet's Coffee & Tea and Kupros quenched my respected thirsts. (Be that for pumpkin chai tea or a Hefe brew... or two.) Four stars all-around. Consider that my unofficial Yelp! review.
You know I love my reality based competitions featuring talented special effect make-up artists, drag queen performers, budding fashion designers-- and of course skilled tattoo artists. And this season SpikeTV upped the drama pitting Rivals against each other. Bad for them, good for us!
As if you didn't need any more reasons to love the Happiest Place on Earth...
Well, thanks to this woofy new Instagram account, you do!
I finally got around to try out the taxi-killing company while I was in San Francisco and I had great experience each time. They were convenient, fast, cheap and got me where I needed to go. It'll be interesting to see if they thrive or even survive facing all the challenges they face, but I left a happy customer!
After weeks of numerous short teasers, the American Horror Story: Freak Show's official cast trailer was finally released; I was instantly obsessed with this song. Listen to the full version HERE. Put it on a loop and bring on the Freak Show!
We all know that iPhone games come and go. (See: Words With Friends, Drawing With Friends, Matching With Friends... and so on); But this latest number puzzle time-waster has been my iAddiction for the past month or so.
Prepare to get your geek on! "Quite possibly the nerdiest competition ever televised, The Quest constructs a full-fledged immersive fantasy world complete with ogres, dragons, dark forces and an imperiled Queen. It’s “Survivor” meets live-action role playing, as 12 contestants navigate physical competitions and a scripted mythology to vie for the title of One True Hero. The camp factor is off the charts, and auds will either buy into the conceit or they won’t, but it’s all presented with an admirably straight face. The weirdly endearing result feels relatively fresh enough to attract a following in the generally unimaginative realm of reality TV." (Variety)
It wasn't that long ago when September would bring a Fall TV parade of returning favorites to back to Network Television. (RIP 30 Rock, The Office, Happy Endings, and all) I guess nowadays Cable TV is stealing all the thunder. (Well, Hello there American Horror Story and The Walking Dead!) At least the Pritchett, Tucker-Pritchett and Dunphy families are still around. Thankfully Bob Burgers returns next month, followed by the final season of Parks and Recreation in January.
