Guardians of the Galaxy features a galactic group of crime fighters, including a green woman, a raccoon, a tree, a tattooed prisoner and a charming Earthling with a rad mixed tape. It doesn't sound like it would work on paper, but somehow it does. This original and unique zany Marvel blockbuster was the movie of the Summer. If you haven't seen it yet, what's wrong with you!? As if you need any more motivation... click HERE. All hail the Star Lord!
... Speaking of... Whether he was dropping mad beats, braiding hair, predicting the future, making the best ice bucket challenge, starring in the Summer's biggest blockbuster or just being an all around amazing guy-- Entertainment Weekly's: 2014 Entertainer of the Year (I'll bet ya, write it!) shows nice guys do finish first. Its officially Andy Dwyer's world, and we're just living in it. (Not that I'm complaining!)
In my best Comic Book Guy voice:
"Best X-Men Movie. Ever.
Funny famous faces Tina Fey, Ty Burrell and Ricky Gervais (and more celebrity cameos than you can count) join Kermit Constantine and Company in this entertaining Muppet Caper sequel. Muppets Most Wanted is packed with plenty of clever gags and toe-tapping musical numbers, in addition to all those star sitings. How many did you catch? Hey Jemaine!! Waka waka waka!
"Al, you old son of a bitch! How ya doin'? How do you feel about that call today? I mean the Dolphins! Fourth-and-three play on their 30 yard line with only 34 seconds to go!" "Oi! Ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck." "I must look like a yeti in this getup!" "Agador Spartacus!... He insists on being called by his full name." "Three wishes, to be exact. And ixnay on the wishing for more wishes. That's all. Three. Uno, dos, tres. No substitutions, exchanges, or refunds." "Oh! Oh, I saw it! Some angry member of the kitchen staff, did you not tip them? Oh, the terrorists, they ran that way, it was a run-by fruiting!" "You do an eclectic celebration of the dance! You do Fosse, Fosse, Fosse! You do Martha Graham, Martha Graham, Martha Graham! Or Twyla, Twyla, Twyla! Or Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd! Or Madonna, Madonna, Madonna!... but you keep it all inside." "It's all part and parcel, the whole genie gig. Phenomenal cosmic powers! Itty bitty living space!" "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille."
Genie, You're free.
Did you catch this Emmys promo that was like a thousand times more entertaining than the actual Emmy Awards?! Breaking Bad's beloved bad boys and everyone's favorite Veep reunite and bring major laughs in this reality TV pawn spoof. Click HERE if you missed it, or just want to see it again. (If like me, for the 10th time!)
My New Album of the Month.
... And easily one of the most innovative ones of the year, too.
Favorite Tracks include: You Know Where To Find Me, The Listening Chair, Lifeline and Telemiscommunications. (Thanks Nick for the recommendation!)
Just admit it, once you post things to your Instatwittebook and other social medias, you never go back and look at them right? Well now you don't have to; thanks to this handy app TimeHop, which goes back and uncovers what you what you posted on this date, one, two or more years ago. And speaking of Instagram, it's Hyperlapse app makes some of the coolest videos around. Download them both to your phone asap. iDid!
TyTy, I wish I knew how to quit you.
Between the marvelous Mexican three-egg scramble, a phenomenal Philly cheese steak sandwich or a sensational Sante Fe chicken salad, this month I experienced three new and amazing Utah eateries. Two located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, the other will require a trek up to Layton and Ogden. My belly was well fed and happy this month. Hooray for cheat days! Nom nom nom!

I admit I was a bit of an Ice Bucket Challenge hater at first but then I saw videos from Charlie Sheen, Dolly Parton, Chris Pratt(!), Dave Grohl, James Franco, Patrick Stewart, a bloody drugged up chick (WAY more funnier than it sounds), a #%$!ing adorable toddler, Paul Bissonette... but especially THIS video that changed my mind. No matter your thoughts on this viral sensation of 2014, it's always great to be reminded to be charitable, and plenty of worthy causes are deserving of our assistance and attention. As the old saying goes, it's always better to give. Period.
'Ivan Locke has worked diligently to craft the life he has envisioned, dedicating himself to the job that he loves and the family he adores. On the eve of the biggest challenge of his career, Ivan receives a phone call that sets in motion a series of events that will unravel his family, job, and soul. All taking place over the course of one absolutely riveting car ride, Locke is an exploration of how one decision can lead to the complete collapse of a life. It's driven by an unforgettable performance by Tom Hardy. It is a thrillingly unique cinematic experience of a man fighting to salvage all that is important to him."- a24
Quick, look out the window! Are pigs flying by? Because I do believe that Hell has frozen over -- For Taylor Swift, Yes THAT Taylor Swift, has releases a song that I actually kinda enjoy. I know, I know... I'm as shocked by this as much as you are, but just Shake It Off. I have to give props, where props are due. It's a great cardio song and you just can't have too many of those!
The long nightmare that consumed Trolley Manor for the past five weeks is finally over.
A round of fresh tuna and cat nip for everyone!!
