LOVELIST: April Edition...

65 Million (Plus Twenty More) Years in the Making...

As a teenager, I was a HUGE fan when Jurassic Park originally came out. (Yes I had the posters on my bedroom wall.)  So, of course you'd expect to see me in line at the IMAX theater for it's 20th Anniversary's opening weekend.  Even though I've seen the movie countless times, it was still as fresh, scary, brilliant and timeless as the first time I saw it.  If not better.  Dino-mite!

Every one's favorite VP (sorry Joe Biden) is back for another season on HBO.  Veep's sophomore season kicks off following disastrous mid-term elections for Selina Meyer's party and the (funny) political fallout.  ''There is no I in freedom. Freedom is not me-dom, it's we-dom!''  Dare I say, this is Julia Louis-Dreyfus' best role ever. I'd happily vote to keep her around for another four years!

I've been wanting to watch The Impossible ever since it was released in theaters last year, but I was afraid the subject matter would be to depressing and difficult to watch.  After all it is the true story of one family's struggle to survive during the worst natural disaster in recent times; The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.  That being said, I'm glad stopped by Redbox and rented it.  Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and newcomer Tom Holland's performances are all equally incredible.  The visuals and special effects are also unforgettable.  So be sure to check out this emotional and fantastic movie.  Just have a box of Kleenex near by... just in case.

Sure it seems like a Ink Master knock-off, but Oxygen's reality TV competition is still fun.  Amazing artists, loads of talent and more inked hotties (like last Season's winner London!)  I'd never even heard of this show but caught the first season in a marathon heading up for the Season 2 premiere.  All of this isn't helping my need for some more ink myself.  You know what they say about tattoos!

New artist discovery of the month.

(Thanks Demetri!)

Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is Majority Whip. He has his hands on every secret in politics - and is willing to betray them all to become President.  I've been hearing rave reviews of Netflix's original new political drama House of Cards ever since it debuted back in February.  After finishing up some of my other stories I finally got around to checking it out, and half way through the Season, I can officially say I'm hooked.

"Located at the University of Utah, The Natural History Museum of Utah shows exhibits of natural history subjects, specifically about Utah's natural history. It's mission is to 'illuminate the natural world and the place of humans within it.' The new building, opened in 2011, was conceived as an extension of the land it occupies, and the people that have occupied it, that lived with it well before us, and to those that today still cherish it. It was designed to be an outgrowth of that phenomenon - a celebration of the men and women who have found a way to live with the extraordinary circumstances of a place, that was formed millions of years ago, and, a place that has tested the will of all people to look closely at what this earth can give us, through example and understanding - it was designed to create a path to understanding, a pathway to embracing who we are in this place we call home."  My friend Shila and I spent an afternoon there and it was an incredible reminder of all the history that's taken place on this land I call home.  That, and I just really loved the building's stunning architecture.  Go discover it for yourself.

With a string of viral hits like Chow Down (at Chick-Fil A) and This Boy is a Bottom, it's no surprised that everyone's sassy shady queen Willam has another hit on her hands with RuPaulogize.  Bonus points for the genius the Sharon Needles cameo!  (Also keep an eye out for favorites Raja and Alaska.)  Let the music play!

The only thing more wonderful than this delightful speech, was what happened after when Equality scored another win in New Zealand.  It's amazing to witness history being made. Way to go Kiwis (and France too!)

Life of Pi follows a young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.  It's a beautiful film!

Why am I just now learning of this delicious low-carb pasta-alternative?!
Dinner's ready!  Nom nom nom!

Back in the 90's while at college I had an ultimate guilty pleasure; My friends got me hooked on Days of Our Lives.  Specifically, Eileen Davidson's brilliant, manipulative and John-obsessed Kristen DiMera. (As well as her kooky Susan Banks... her strict Sister Mary Moira... and Penelope... and yes Thomas(!)  She wore many acting hats.  After she left Salem it was much easier to break up with the show.  Flash-forward to current day, while at the gym who did I see on the TV screen?  Eileen Davidson!   Sheeee's baaaack!  Now I'm not foolish enough to dedicate five-hours a week to a silly soap opera, but I did stumble across a YouTube channel where a fan edited the scenes that only feature her.  Now I can enjoy watching Kristen exact revenge on all those that wronged her.  Like sands through the hourglass...

Membership renewed (thanks Jake for the Costco connection)
I'm currently committed to and working at creating some new healthier habits.
Stay tuned...
