Love List | July Edition...

THREE MARVELOUS MOVIES,
FOUR CRAZY PERSONALITIES
& 12 MORE THINGS I LOVED
DURING A JAM-PACKED JULY

.
{my
biggest list yet!}

1|INCEPTION
Inception is one of the coolest movies I've seen in ages. The special effects alone are worth the price of admission. (It's a must to see on the big screen!) But more than just rad visuals, the story is fascinating, complex and a good work out for the brain. A true sign of a good film in my opinion, is one that you can't stop thinking about-- even days/weeks after viewing. This totally describes my experience with Inception. So go see this movie, so we can finally discuss that ending! You might see me there. It warrants a second viewing. And maybe a third.

This month, I also loved this amazing trailer mash-up of my #1 and #5 Love List picks. Check it out HERE.

2|ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD
as ERIC NORTHMAN

VILF(!)

3|A SINGLE MAN
I've been wanting to see this movie forever, but missed my chance to catch it in the theater. Well it was well worth the wait and didn't disappoint from all the award season buzz. The cast was perfection and I can't give Tom Ford enough kudos on his first venture into directing. Not only is A Single Man a powerful and moving story, it is a stunningly beautiful film. Definitely one to throw into the queue!

4|THE SUMMER OF TANK®
I declared sleeves 'out' way back in May-- and I lived up to my word, rocking a slew of new tank tops this month. I might not have my dream guns (yet), but this is the perfect fashion staple for those hot Summer days! And we still have plenty of those left this year... so expect me to be showing off the tatt-n-shoulders for weeks to come!

5|TOY STORY 3
I've said it before, I'll say it again... Pixar can do no wrong. Toy Story 3 continues with their impressive run of A+ animated films. Obviously to say I'm a fan is a major understatement. The Incredibles, Finding Nemo and of course the prior two trips to the toy box are probably my biggest faves. And this might be the most emotional film yet, I've heard of many grown men crying. I might have even teared up a bit myself. And not just because of my allergies. In case you've been living under a rock, check out TS3 now. (Just remember to bring some Kleenex-- you know, just in case.) To Infinity...and Beyond!

6|APHRODITE by KYLIE MINOGUE
Soundtrack of the Month: Part I

7|THE UNITED STATES OF TARA:
SEASON 1
I'd like to introduce you to Tara...
and Alice...
and T...
and Buck.

PLUS: Bonus points for it's super-fantabulous Opening Credits! Love!

8|HGTV'S DESIGN STAR
Who doesn't love a good cable reality show competition? They cook! (Top Chef) They sew! (Project Runway)... and now they paint and accessorize! I watched last season on Hulu and have also been catching up on the new Season 5 during my Sunday family visits. (I don't get HGTV at home, Boo!) Design Star also features two of my all time favorite TV designers on its judging panel. Love me some Genevieve Gorder and Candice Olson. Ready. Set. Decorate!

9|MAGGIE GRIFFIN
K.G. is no stranger to the Love List. She has been mentioned here on multiple occasions. But with the latest season of My Life on the D-List, it is the elder Griffin that deserves a little praise. She is an amazing sport and always cracks me up! I can definitely see where Kathy gets her humor from. I raise my glass of wine and toast you Momma Griffin. You're the best-- Tip it, indeed!

10|DRAG U
This ain't your momma's make over show. Leave it to Ru-Paul and practically all of my Drag Race favorite queens to transform real ladies lives in this fun new Logo spin-off. Deep in the Lake Titty-Caca Valley is where the transformations take place (with a little help from the Dragulator!) I adore all the professors, but especially Pandora Boxx, Nina Flowers, Ongina and Morgan McMichaels... and they can keep doing spin off after spin off, if it means if I get my fix of my favorite lady boys! Common Logo, whutdoya say?

11|NIGHT WORK by SCISSOR SISTERS
Soundtrack of the Month: Part II

12|MOVIES IN THE TUB
After a long day at work I can think of no better way to unwind than a relaxing bubble bath... or maybe watching a good DVD is a good option too. But what if I combined the two? Genius! That's just what I did-- and a lot this month. With plenty of to catch up on (Single Man, True Blood and United States of Tara, ect ect) I spent a lot of time soakin' in the tub. Try it for your self! All you need is a laptop and a Netflix account... and you're set!

13|IRIS PIERCING
Jesse Dobbs is the shit! 'Nuff said.

14|LA ROUX
No, I'm not just jumping on the La Roux bandwagon! I've been listening to her for a good year+ now. She did practically sponsor last August's cabin road trip after all. But the fact that I've neglected to sing her praises publicly on the Love List before now, well that is a damn crime. I still love the awesome Bulletproof ! Add to the fact that it's getting the air play it so rightfully deserves and broadening her fan base-- well that's some good news indeed! But remember, for the record, I've been a fan for well over a year now.

15|SALT LAKE ACTING COMPANY'S
SATURDAY'S VOYEUR:
THE YEAR THAT WAS

Being from Utah, it's a good thing that we can have a good sense of humor and laugh at ourselves... or rather, have a good sense of humor to laugh at the nuts that make the news here. Well if you're a local, be sure to check out Saturday's Voyeur (running until September 5). Our local actors do a great job taking a humorous walk down memory lane reminiscing on such headlines as ho-Mo kiss-gate, the failed Governor's book signing at Costco and that friggin' $#%! (Mel Gibon's words, not mine) "Gayle Uzika"! So grab a some yummy food, a bottle of wine (yes!!) and get ready to laugh. It's a great way to spend the evening with friends.

16|THE (ORIGINAL) REAL WORLD:
NEW ORLEANS
With MTV pimpin' the sexed up return to the Big Easy, it made me nostalgic for the vintage version of seven strangers "picked to live in a maaaaansion". (Melissa shout out!) So I pulled out my old dusty VHS tapes (yes, it's that old!) to find out what happens when people stop being... oh, you know the drill. Back in the day I was a huge Real World junkie (you know, when it wasn't a cast full of sluts and media whores, but I digress.) This season had my two all-time favorites: Hilarious firecracker Melissa and the über-adorable (and personal hero) Danny.
