LOVELIST | August...

I discovered my hidden spontaneous side this month, after an last-minute early-morning call from my friend's Greg and Philip inviting me on a weekend camping trip to Bear Lake.  Pitchin' a tent along side a river, warming by an inferno of a campfire under the stars, small- town diners and of course the hours and hours playing in the lake... it was just the unexpected Summer fun I needed. Thank you boys, I had the best time!  #LakeLiiife!
Ru brought back ten of her most fierce and fabulous queens ever for a second chance at the crown.  So far the second season of RuPauls Drag Race All-Stars has been gag worthy and Ah-mazing!  (They clearly learned from their mistakes in Season 1 *Cough*Teams-Fail*Cough!)  Let’s get this party All-Star-ted Okkkuurrrr!  *And for the record, in my humble opinion it’s clearly Alaska’s contest to lose.  #TeamLasky all the way.

A little girl lives in a very grown-up world with her mother, who tries to prepare her for it. Her neighbor, the Aviator, introduces the girl to an extraordinary world where anything is possible, the world of the Little Prince. “Beautifully animated and faithful to the spirit of its classic source material, The Little Prince is a family-friendly treat that anchors thrilling visuals with a satisfying story.” -RT

One of my favorite reality TV show competitions is back but this year, but with a twist.  Tattoo artists compete on two teams for the ultimate Ink Master face-off for Season 8.  Will it be Team Peck or Team Nuñez?  Time to Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and find out!

Netflix’s Stranger Things was the surprise breakout hit of the Summer.  I wasn’t the only one obsessed with all the weird things going on in Hawkins, Indiana back in 1983.  After mega-binging through all eight episodes last month, I needed more. Then I stumbled on the reality of reaction videos on Youtube, where you watch other people watch shows.  I got sucked into viewing far more Stranger Things Reaction Videos than I’d like to publicly admit.  Now the countdown in on for actual new episodes when Season 2 debuts in 2017.

Emotion: Side B was announced on the one-year anniversary of Carly Rae Jepsen's third studio album, Emotion. It features unreleased songs that did not make the cut for the original effort. The EP received critical acclaim upon its release. And Casey acclaim as well! Favorite tracks include:  Higher, Cry, Fever and First Time.

Apparently I was in the mood for some dirty funny women this month, as I took in not one-- not two-- but three freakin’ R-Rated Comedies.  Bad Moms follows three overworked and under-appreciated mothers are pushed beyond their limits, they ditch their conventional responsibilities for a jolt of long overdue freedom, fun, and comedic self-indulgence.  in The Boss, a titan of industry is sent to prison after she's caught insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America's latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.  And The Bronze follows a foul-mouthed former gymnastics bronze medalist with local celebrity status reluctantly trains a rising Olympics aspirant.  Thanks for making me laugh ladies!

This month VH1 Classic became MTV Classic, featuring some of our favorite shows from the nineties like Daria, Beavis and Butthead, Road Rules and of course my favorite guilty pleasure, marathons of vintage The Real World.  Get ready for some Music Television nostalgia.

Prisma is my favorite go-to photo editing app of the Summer. Say cheese!

As we all know I'm an HGTV addict but I’ve already watched all of the streaming episodes of all things House Hunters (in all forms), Love it or List it and Property Brothers.  Then I stumbled on Genevieve’s Renovation on Netflix.  The series follows former favorite Trading Spaces designer as she overhauls her New York City abode.

I checked out two powerful documentaries that followed the aftermath of the tragic Orlando terror attack this month.  MTV’s True Life: We Are Orlando and Viceland’s Gaycation: Orlando; both are available to watch online. Just have Kleenex handy.  #OrlandoStrong  #RestInPride

Admittedly, The Lobster is one of the weirdest and craziest films I’ve seen in recent memory. I can’t stop thinking about it and my opinion is often changing about it.  But the thought provoking art piece is still worth checking out.  In a dystopian near future, single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they are obliged to find a romantic partner in forty-five days or are transformed into beasts and sent off into The Woods.  See, I told you it sounded weird!

One of my favorite things to do this Summer has been going on night walks around the neighborhood once the sun sets, and a pleasant temperature settles in.  Noticing a lot of cute houses and nice landscaping along the way, and realizing how many of you keep your curtains wide open (won’t worry I’m not a weird lookie-loo) and just thinking while listening to tunes.  Gotta enjoy it while I can, Winter is coming!
