I know I'm late, but I have a good excuse. (I was on vacation on July 24th without my computer.) I want to wish my wonderful sister-in-law a Happy Better-Late-Than-Never-Birthday. She is an amazing person and a fabulous momma to my nieces. (Plus she always laughs at my jokes.) I'm so happy to call her my sister. Love ya Shanna!

Surprise!...
What I thought was going to be a low-key pre-birthday dinner turned out to be a delightful (and surprising) Surprise Party with some of my favorite people. Some of my friends threw together a fun evening with good food, but at Garrett's house, it's always good food and fun. Tonya showed off her talents and made me the best dragon cake ever... Take that Ace of Cakes. It was a memorable night and a good way to wrap up age 30. Thanks everyone!

G.E.S. Fire...
At 10:00 am on Monday July 13th a 2-Alarm fire broke out at Grantsville Elementary School. It originated from the faculty room stove, but thankfully due to the quick response of the firefighters it was mostly contained to that room. When I heard the news, my stomach sank, it hit me harder than I thought it would... especially in the beginning when it was questionable the extent of damage. I went to Kindergarten through Fourth grade in this building. It is also where my mom worked as the school librarian for the majority of my childhood. The location to the fire was very close so the library where I had spent many Summers helping my mom with book inventory, watching movies or planning kick-ass bulletin boards. It's odd but I am constantly having reoccurring dreams featuring and having something to do with that library. They usually involved me going back and being pissed about how crappy it is without me. But thankfully G.E.S. was spared. Apparently the school sustained significant water & smoke damage but was spared. An interesting tidbit, is it's been around for decades, it's actually (minus some additions) where my parent's went to High School. I'm glad it was saved. Let the dreams continue.

Stuart Falls Hike...
One thing I love about living is Utah is that you are a short car ride from some of the most breathtaking nature on Earth. So along with Jeff's large family (a couple dozen adults, children and dogs.. oh my!) and friends we ventured up the mountain (near Sundance) to check out Stuart Falls. The hike was delightful-- it reminded me a lot of Kauai actually. After all the rain we had in June, it was very lush and green. Ferns everywhere! The boys and I kinda ventured off on our own at one point. And the highlight was definitely the grand waterfall itself, just stunning! Great way to spend the 4th of July weekend (while burning some calories) out in the midst of this beautiful country I'm lucky enough to call home.
